Monday, January 30, 2012

Yesterday was my little man's 10 month birthday.  So hard to believe that in just a few short months he will be 1.  Crazy how time has just flown by.  I just love to see his little toothy smile.  Everytime I walk in to his room after a nap he has such a huge smile on his face.  I just love it!!  It has been confirmed, Emily does in fact have an imaginary friend.  And the name of such friend - why Emily of coarse.  I am so glad she likes her name so much.  I caught her being cute the other day with some toys she left in the hall.  As she was walking to them from Preston's room she said, "Hey guys, are you ready for the wedding?"  I am not sure who was getting married.  I think it was Ariel and Ken, but not sure.  She saw a wart that Dean has on his arm and pointed to it.  She asked him what it was, he told her.  She told him that he got it from a frog that touched his arm.  And that she didn't get it b/c she was a Princess.  She had it all figured out!  Preston had a Basketball game today and I finally got to go.  I haven't been able to go since Emily's ballet class is at the same time as his games on Saturday.  So, since today's game was on a weekday, I could go!  He was cute out there, but could def use some more practice.  I told Dean he needed to practice with him more.  I think Preston really likes to play, but it was sometimes tough to watch.  The coach seems to take it a bit too serious than I would think he should for a team of 6 year olds.  Well, another weekend has past and no Chuck E Cheese for the kids.  So, you know what that means - no one cleaned their rooms, yet again!  I wonder if they don't care for Chuck E Cheese anymore.  So, I tell them that they won't be able to go anymore, and they both say - YES!!, but neither is willing to do what is required to go.  So who knows.  Not sure what to do to motivate them to clean up after themselves.  Frustrating...... On another note - getting so excited for Jacob's 1st birthday.  I know it won't be a big party, but I want to make it his big day anyway.  His big day is going to be a little early since my mom is going to come visit mid March during Brandon's spring break.  So, we are going to have his party while she is there and b/f Dean leaves for more training.  Dean is going to miss Jacob's actual B-Day, he doesn't get back until the day after.  So, am trying to have a big blow out for Jacob b/f Dean leaves too.  I know it is a few months away still, but a lot left to do!  I can't wait!!

1/27/12

Preston is missing having a kitty.  He drew this cat, and said this was the cat that he wanted next.  It's name is Dextr (Dexter), and is 1 years old, and an inside cate.  He is so cute.  I don't even want to start looking until April at the earliest.  And even then I am not sold on the idea of getting another animal.  Dean doesn't want any more cats, he wants another dog.  I can see why, but at the same time, I just don't want any more pets to have to take care of.  I see people walking their dogs and then having to clean up behind them, and I think - I am so glad I don't have a dog I have to walk and do that with.  I did that with Copper back in CA, and he would do his business at least 3 X's on the walk.  It was so annoying!!  Made me wonder why in the heck people even want dogs.  But that is probably just me.  The kids and Dean all want another animal, so I will lose eventually.  But am trying to hold out as long as possible!  Had another movie night for the kids tonight.  Made them cake balls for them to buy at the "concession stand".  They seemed to like those a lot.  Especially Preston, with his sweet tooth!  Preston's turn to pick a movie, he picked Zookeeper.  It was cute, a little slow for the kids though.  Emily lost interest in it about half way through.

1/25/2012

Jacob has now figured out how to bring himself to the sitting position without the use of something to pull up on.  He did it right in front of me while we were playing in his room together.  Such a big boy!  Grandma called last night to talk to the kids.  But when both of them got on the phone, the first thing they said was, "Can I talk to Brandon".  So, so much for grandma calling to talk to them.  So, the kids each took turns talking to Brandon.  Preston went first and he was really cute.  He told Brandon he had a secret that he wanted to tell him.  I could tell he wasn't sure what secret he was actually going to say, but that he had a secret.  So, Preston went in his room to look around to find said secret.  So, he told Brandon that his secret was that he had a Batman and a Joker (just happened to be the first two toys on the floor when you walked into Preston's room).  Brandon's respose - "For me", Preston - "No, for both of us to share, Brandon - "but not to share with Emily, right."  Poor Emily, but she can definately dish it out, so I guess I shouldn't feel too bad for her.  She is the Queen of Instigating!   Made a video of her singing in the bathtub yesterday.  She is so cute, just love how she makes up songs.  She was so goofy this morning, she matter of fact told me that she didn't want to be a white girl anymore that she wanted to be a black girl.  Hand on her hip, leaning to one side, and the other hand out (like you are holding a tray - best way I can think of to describe it).  I asked her why she would think that, she just said because she doesn't want to be white she wants to be black.  Ok, glad that is settled.  Such a goof.  I am pretty sure that she is saying this b/c all of her teachers are black, and most all of the kids at her school are black.  So she is in the minority.   Today am planning on taking Em with me to the fabric store (Joann's), to get some V-day fabric to make a diaper for Jacob.  Want to do V-day pics with the kids and am having some difficulty finding cute boy stuff.  Cute girl stuff is all over the place, but not a whole lot of choices with boys.  So, trying to make do with what I can find and it still be cute!

1/24/12 and "Hot Pants"

As promised, on today's post is a pic of Preston in his "hot pants" for his basketball game.  I giggle everytime I look at the pic.  Sorry Preston!

The weather was a little bit better today.  Still foggy, but the rain had stopped earlier this AM, so was able to walk to school again.  Emily likes to walk to school, so we try to every chance we get.  Also gives me a chance to use my double stroller - yea!!  Dean had a basketball game last night, and Preston wanted to go with.  So was just me Emily and Jacob at the house.  Tried to get Emily to help me with dinner, but she wasn't interested.  So, she helped to "entertain" Jacob while I cooked, which actually meant I will watch my movie and Jacob can watch it too.  Jacob likes to "cook" too.  So, I give him a couple of pots and a spoon to play with.  I also put some of his snacks in the pots, so he has fun digging them out and banging on the pots with his spoon.  Keeps him busy, so I can get dinner ready.  I just love when we are out somewhere and people are trying to make him laugh, etc, that he will look over at me first b/f he decides if he will laugh or not.  I think it is so cute that he is looking for approval/the ok to go ahead from his mommy.  He even did it to Dean the other day - too funny!  Nice change from my other "not listening to a word I say" kiddos.  Emily is getting to be so sassy!  She will put her hand on her hip and tell me that she doesn't like something.  Where did she learn that??  Its so hard to keep a straight face sometimes!  Preston read me a Scooby Doo book last night.  He really liked it.  He did pretty well, had some trouble with some of the words, but overall he did a really good job.  It took us a long time to get through it, but we got it done.  Made Jacob scoot to me from the opposite side of his room today.  He got mad and tried to give up a few times, but I kept motivating him by playing with a few of his toys.  He made it over to me though, so got a lot of hugs and kisses as praise.  Its kind of bittersweet.  I want him to do the things he needs to be doing to grow up, but at the same time, I want him to stay my baby for as long as possible.

1/23/2012

Didn't get a chance to do a blog for yesterday, so here is yesterday's and today's.  Jacob is getting really good at clapping.  He started to clap on 1/15.  He likes to clap at almost everything now.  So proud of himself.  It is really cute.  Both Preston and Emily were given the chore of cleaning their rooms to be able to go to Chuck E Cheese on Sunday.  They had all weekend to do it, but neither one of them really put any effort into cleaning their rooms.  Emily's room in fact looks even worse than it did at the start of the weekend!  So, needless to say, no Chuck E Cheese this weekend.  Maybe they will want to earn it next weekend.  They have already lost a lot of toys by not keeping their rooms clean.  I packed up a ton and put them in the garage.  Told them they could earn them back if they could keep their room clean with what they still have.  Well, they haven't earned the rest of their toys back either.  So, will see what next weekend brings.  I may have to take a few more toys away, who knows.  Preston got mad at pretty much everyone this weekend and wrote everyone a note.
Emily's Note:
Emily I dot wut to see you ene mor be kus you or men to me.
Dean's Note:
Dadde I ges you dot wut to see me and I dot wut you to nock on my dor!
My Note:
Mom I ges you  dot wut to see me ene moir be kus I tript you on a d diks (accident).  I did not on prpis ouk kdey (okie dokey).
Jacob's note (the only nice one):
Jakub I ges I wut to see you evre day Jakub.

He has recently started to write notes to us when he gets upset.  He does it almost every time he gets sent to his room.  Such a sensitive boy.
Emily is so funny, her new thing to say is "When I was ____ age, I was/did ______."  She told me when I was your age, I swam with the dolphins.   Later she said, When I was Preston's age, I was a boy.  She is silly.  Such an imagination.  I think she has an imaginary friend.  Not 100% on that, but I caught her saying come on and waiving behind her when she was leaving my room the other day.  I know she wasn't talking to me, so it made me wonder if she was talking to an imaginary friend.  Not sure.  Haven't seen it again though.

Saturday 1/21

Last night we had our family movie night.  I created a concession stand of sorts and the kids had to buy their movie ticket and refreshments with the fake $10 that I gave them.  The cost of the movie was $5, and each refreshment (candy, popcorn, soda/water) was $1 a piece.  They had a good time with that.  It was Emily's turn to pick a movie.  She picked out Dolphin Tail.  Good movie!  The kids stayed interested for a while, then decided to play for a bit.  Preston came back to it, but Emily was done with the movie.  Even though she didn't finish it all the way through, she wanted to watch it again today and was sad when I told her that Daddy had returned it already.  Emily had ballet today and Preston had his very first Basketball game today!  They were both at the same time, so I had to miss the game unfortunately.  After Emily's ballet class I took her to get some pictures made in her ballet outfit.  She is such a sassy girl.  She was putting her hands on her hips constantly.  It was super cute!  Got some good pictures.  Emailed them all to the family, so everyone should have them by now.  Will see what Dean took at the basketball game and upload those if he was able to take any.  He had Jacob since I had pictures with Emily afterwards.  So, not sure how many pics we was able to take.  Preston only played in one quarter and he had to wear some hot pants!  (He had to wear a pair of Emily's shorts).  Dean thought Preston had a pair of black shorts, but when he looked this morning he couldn't find a single one!  So, he ran and grabbed Emily's shorts.  They fight, but were small (so hot pants! - ha).  Poor guy.  While waiting for Emily to get done with ballet class I went and bought him a couple of pairs of black shorts, so we won't run into that problem again.  Jacob is getting really good at scooting.  He hasn't started to crawl yet, but he scoots and rolls like crazy to get to where he wants to go!  So, crawling should be the next step.  He still only has the 4 teeth.  Two up top (his fang teeth), and two at the bottom right in the center.
